Syllabus

  • An overview and brief history of data visualization
  • Introduction to the basic principles and design techniques for data visualization. Identification, understanding, analysis, and preparation for presenting effective visualizations across various topics
  • Overview, installation, and use of various available tools and software that can be used for data visualization
  • Data preparation and management
  • Creation and customization of basic statistical and alternative charts
  • Creation of interactive charts, animated charts, maps, multivariate visualizations, visual reports, and infographics
  • Visualization of two-dimensional data arrays (2D arrays)
  • Visual analytics of time series data, cross-sectional data, and panel data
  • Data visualization vs information visualization. Developing an understanding of the basic principles for effectively presenting data in dashboards, data storytelling, and infographics
  • Storage, sharing, management, and utilization of output files
